Hatred Spinning Out Of Control

Two things I love to do on Saturday – a round up of stories I did not cover during the week and make fun of California. I am not sure I can make it funny this week – things are taking very ugly turns. We’ll start light but we will not be able to stay there. For starters – the new White House ballroom – so much handwringing, finger-wagging and consternation over something that has a long history. But Trump is doing it so it must be wrong! Like I say, I wanted to be funny and at this point start parodying, “If Trump does it it must be wrong.” Had a lot of funny ideas, but sadly, reality overrides it.
A bit more on the light side. When California passed its plastic bag ban, I was livid – I hated it. I won’t bore you with my rant, but let’s just say it has not worked out well for California. So much so that even the Washington Post is declaring them wrong in this effort. Undaunted, California is suing makers of the supposed recyclable bags that replaced the typical ones. The host often says the key to talk radio is “Often wrong, never in doubt.” That may describe California to a tee.
But they are not done with bad ideas in California yet. Which raises an interesting question – What is the worst idea California has ever produced? Kamala or Harris?
And this is where things turn rather ugly. This is just ugly. This is insurrectionist. But this takes the cake. Quote James Carville:
You know what we do with collaborators? I think these corporations — my fantasy dream is that this nightmare ends in 2029, and I think we ought to have radical things — I think they all ought to have their heads shaven, they should be put in orange pajamas, and they should be marched down Pennsylvania Avenue, and the public should be invited to spit on them. The universities, the corporations, the law forms, all of these collaborators should be shaved, pajamaed, and spit on.
There has been a lot of discussion lately about political violence. This does not call for assassination, but it’s not far off that mark. It is a “fantasy” of hatred not all that different than Jay Jones fantasy. This stuff is becoming commonplace among Democrats, but people at the level of a Nancy Pelosi or a James Carville, usually treat it as if it were beneath them. But here we are with Pelosi threatening the arrest of federal agents (see “this is insurrectionist” link above) and Carville spewing this absolute bile. They are mainstreaming the hatred. And Trump is the Nazi?
And Then The Round-up
Where was this when I was student aged? Vision issues killed my astronauts dreams when I was very young, but this would have been the next best thing.
Recommended reading from the host, further recommended.
A long listen, but fascinating and worthy. How identity politics goes oh so very wrong.
