How God Turns Life’s Messes into Something Beautiful

God can and does turn life’s messes into something beautiful. He often demonstrates the ability to make masterpieces out of ashes and rubble. Watch the short but powerful clip to hear about how the Lord can take the seemingly broken, destroyed and ruined and turn them into something beautiful and breathtaking.

People are fallen, lost and broken. We are all sinners who have willfully turned away from God. We disobeyed, choosing our way over His commands and directives. Of course, you know what happens after we ignore God: we make a complete mess of things, which occurs every time.

Human beings have a knack for screwing things up and taking the good and utterly ruining it. If there’s a way to make a bad situation worse, just give a human a little bit of time with it, and they’ll find a way. Luckily, God is in the business of providing forgiveness and offering grace because we’d all be totally and entirely lost without it. The Lord can also take those situations that we’ve wrecked and ruined, and use them for something good, making what was once broken and destroyed into something new and beautiful.

In a clip posted on YouTube, one man explains how the Lord does this, mentioning a specific and important verse in Scripture. He points to Romans 8:28, in which Paul writes how God uses all situations to bring about good for those who love Him. He adds that God can use messes that we’ve created or ones that we had no role in creating. It does not matter to Him because He can do it all.

“So, it’s almost like God is just so crazy redemptive that He can use even the worst parts of our stories,” he said. “He doesn’t just want to use the beautiful, polished, shiny parts of our stories that we can brag about. God wants the ugly, shameful parts of our story, and He’s committed, not just to working in the good things, but working in the bad things, too.”

Romans 8:28 “And we know that to them that love God all things work together for good, even to them that are called according to his purpose.”

Man in His 90s Proves It’s Never Too Late to Chase a Dream

A man in his 90s proves that it’s never too late to chase a dream. Even at his advanced age, he pursued and achieved something that he had always wanted to do. Watch the short but powerful clip to hear what this man did despite being in his 90s.

Time is nothing that can be paused, stopped or reversed. As much as people may want to, it’s simply not possible. Since time keeps marching forward, aging is a natural and continual process that no one can stop or slow (despite beauty products promising to reverse aging). We are getting a little older with every second, minute, hour and day.

Since aging isn’t something we can control, shouldn’t we try to enjoy it? No amount of worrying will add any further time to our lives. I mean, what other option do we have? We should appreciate and take advantage of the time the Lord has given us on Earth and not be worried about our age or how it may impact us.

A clip posted on YouTube tells the story of 97-year-old John Toomey. John, who owns a barbecue restaurant, still comes to work every single day without fail. The video shows the elderly business owner making his rounds in the restaurant, checking on everything and greeting his employees.

The video mentions that John had always wanted to own a barbecue restaurant. It was a dream of his, but it wasn’t until he was 93 years old that he finally became the proud owner of the joint that serves some truly delicious food, as pointed out by the restaurant’s loyal customers.

He didn’t let his age prevent him from doing something that he had always wanted to do. Now, he says that owning the restaurant and coming in every day has been good for him.

“Yes, it gives me an interest and something to do,” John said.

What is something that you’ve always wanted to do, but have things like your age hold you back?

Psalm 71:9 “Do not give me up when I am old; be my help even when my strength is gone.”

With all your heart?

With all your heart? Have I ever been able to do this before? Actually, it doesn’t make sense or is it even comfortable! Trust in God with all of my heart … hmmm … #toughquestionsforgod #jesuslife #jesus18 #christquotedaily

Letting Go of Summer Guilt | Your Nightly Prayer

Summer often feels like a season of high expectations—vacations, adventures, projects, and family memories. But as the season winds down, many of us feel we haven’t “done enough.” Social media only adds fuel, tempting us to compare our experiences with others and leaving us with regret or inadequacy. This is what we might call summer guilt—the belief that we missed out or didn’t live the season well. But in this evening's prayer and devotional, Jesus reminds us in the parable of the talents that God doesn’t measure us by what others have accomplished. He asks us to be faithful with what He has given us. Whether your summer looked like rest, busyness, or something in between, you can let go of comparison. God isn’t grading your life against someone else’s highlight reel. He delights in your faithfulness. If you’ve done your best with what you had, then you can rest knowing He is pleased. Tonight’s Scripture: Matthew 25:23 “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’”

A Prayer When it Feels Like You Don't Have Enough Grace for the Day | Your Daily Prayer

Some days feel heavier than others—emotionally, spiritually, even physically. The responsibilities pile up, the strength runs dry, and grace feels just out of reach. But God’s Word promises: His grace is not just enough—it’s new every morning. 📖 “But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’” — 2 Corinthians 12:9 📖 “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning…” — Lamentations 3:22–23 This prayer is for the overwhelmed, the stretched-thin, the ones barely holding it together. God sees you. And He’s not waiting for you to get stronger—He’s offering strength for this moment. You don’t have to feel enough to be enough. His grace meets you right where you are.

Sometimes I See Heaven (God's Little Wink)

I think that faith in God is like that photo— we know something real is all around us, even if we can’t perceive the Divine clearly. What we are able to see, if we are intentional, is the evidence of the Father at work. We hear it in the words of a survivor of a mass tragedy whose immediate prayer is not for vengeance but a blessing for the shooter; in the selfless acts of folks volunteering time and resources to care for the least among us— and in countless other ways. This is God’s handiwork—the sacredness of our planet as well as the holy acts inspired by our better angels.

A Prayer for Victory over Sinful Thoughts | Your Daily Prayer

Sinful thoughts often begin quietly—an unchecked idea, a hidden fault, or a willful choice. Left unattended, they can grow into habits that enslave us. In Psalm 19:12-14, David prays for God’s forgiveness, protection, and guidance so that his heart and words might be pleasing in God’s sight. In today's prayer and devotional, Jessica Van Roekel reminds us that victory over sin isn’t about willpower alone. It comes from surrendering our hearts and minds to the Lord, allowing Him to be our Rock, Refuge, and Redeemer. God provides a way out of temptation, giving us strength to overcome sinful patterns and live in freedom.

When You Feel Spiritually Dry | Your Nightly Prayer

Even the most faithful believers experience dry seasons—times when God feels distant, prayer feels empty, and our spiritual strength runs low. If you’re feeling disconnected, discouraged, or just numb, you’re not alone… and you’re not forgotten. 📖 “I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint.” — Jeremiah 31:25 📖 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.” — Matthew 5:6 Tonight’s prayer reminds us that God doesn’t abandon us in the dry places. He meets us there. He draws near with living water for thirsty hearts. This isn’t the end of your faith journey—it’s a pause where God is still present, still working, still loving you.

Mercy in the Mourning

Even in our darkest valleys, God’s mercy rises with the dawn—steady, faithful, and new every morning. This video invites you to rest in His compassion when sorrow lingers.

Honest Young Man Finds Lost Wedding Ring in Parking Lot and Does the Right Thing

An honest young man found a lost wedding ring in a parking lot and did the right thing. The youngster finds something nearly everywhere he goes, and one of his discoveries was something of great value and importance. Watch the short but touching video to hear what the little guy did after coming across the expensive piece of jewelry.

The wedding day is a monumental step for every couple. During that all-important ceremony, they vow to remain together forever, regardless of what life may throw at them. In addition to vows and promises, the two exchange rings, symbolizing their undying and unyielding commitment to each other.

So, naturally, a wedding ring is incredibly important because of when it was given and what it represents. Most people greatly cherish that piece of jewelry, keeping it under close watch and surveillance. If it were to become missing, that would result in great worry, consternation and stress for the individual who lost or misplaced it. Their anxiety would be off the charts until they were able to locate it.

A clip posted on YouTube tells how one young man, 10-year-old Kal Blank, discovered an expensive diamond wedding ring in the parking lot of a Costco. But instead of keeping the ring to himself, Kal and his mother worked to find the ring’s owner. She reached out to the store, reporting it missing, and as it turned out, someone had said their wedding ring had gone missing.

However, as the clip mentions, the child did a few things before returning it. He cleaned up the ring and even wrote a touching, heartwarming letter to its rightful owner.

“He is an extremely special kid, and you guys have to be so proud,” Mae Praetzel, the ring’s owner, told Kal’s parents.

Ephesians 4:32 “And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake has forgiven you.”

A Prayer to Trust God with What We Leave Behind | Your Daily Prayer

Letting go can be one of the hardest things God asks us to do—whether it’s a dream, a relationship, a role, or a season that’s come to an end. But surrender isn’t a sign of loss—it’s an act of trust. 📖 “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!” — Isaiah 43:18–19 📖 “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” — 1 Peter 5:7 In today’s prayer, we release what we no longer need to carry. We choose to trust God with what’s behind us and believe He is faithful to lead us into what’s ahead. His love is not stuck in yesterday—it’s already working in tomorrow. When we surrender the past, we make room for what He is doing now.

A Prayer to Be Unshakeable | Your Daily Prayer

When life feels uncertain and storms rage around us, it’s easy to feel unsteady. But God never called us to be strong in our own strength—He calls us to be rooted in Him. His truth, presence, and promises make us unshakeable, even when everything else is shifting. 📖 “Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.” — Psalm 62:6 📖 “Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful…” — Hebrews 12:28 In this prayer, we ask God to firm our foundation—not in circumstances, but in His character. When we plant our hope in who He is, we become anchored in unmovable peace. No storm, season, or struggle can shake the soul that trusts in God.

The Peace of God Over Your Home | Your Nightly Prayer

Home is meant to be a refuge—but often, it’s the place where anxiety, conflict, and exhaustion collide. Whether your home feels chaotic, quiet, or in transition, God longs to bring His peace into every room and every heart within it. 📖 “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.” — Numbers 6:24–26 📖 “My people will live in peaceful dwelling places, in secure homes, in undisturbed places of rest.” — Isaiah 32:18 Tonight’s prayer invites God’s presence to settle over your space like a soft blanket. We ask Him to guard your thoughts, restore your rest, and bring harmony to your relationships. May your home not just be a place you live—but a place where God's peace dwells.

Man Who Walks Miles to 2 Full-Time Jobs Shown Kindness and Love

A hardworking man who walks miles to his two full-time jobs was unexpectedly shown kindness and love. The beautiful, heartwarming story will cause you to wipe away a tear or two. Watch this short but powerful clip about how a little bit of kindness, care and consideration can go a long way.

How difficult is it to exhibit a little concern and kindness? It doesn’t require any special gift, talent, skill or even much time. Honestly, all that is really necessary is to spot a need and then care enough about the well-being of another to act. That’s it, and it’s something that everyone can do, regardless of their age or stage in life.

Christians are called to care for and look after others. While many people would rather go about their day and keep their heads down to avoid making eye contact with someone in need, Jesus says we are to act otherwise. When asked to name the greatest commandments, Christ answered that one of them was to love your neighbor as yourself. This would include helping others in need. Showing Christ-like love and kindness is precisely what some people did for one man in need.

The clip posted on YouTube tells the story of Rodolfo Depaz. Rodolfo has two full-time jobs—at Dairy Queen and Chipotle—and regularly works 80 hours a week. He gets to work by walking several miles a day - rain, shine or snow. He sends the money he earns back to his wife and two children in El Salvador.

Because Rodolfo sends money back to make a better life for his family, he does not have enough for a set of wheels, so he walks to work every day. That is, until one of Rodolfo’s co-workers, Emily, invited him to her house for dinner with her family. He became part of the family, enjoying weekends and holidays with them.

Emily’s father then asked Rodolfo to join his men’s Bible study group. Soon after joining the group, one of the members surprised him by giving him a car. Rodolfo no longer has to walk to work, and he’s eternally grateful for that, mentioning how the Lord has answered his prayers.

“Just said, ‘Thank God, you listen to me in my prayers every day,’” Rodolfo said.

John 13:34 “I give you a new law: Have love for one another; even as I have had love for you, so are you to have love one for another.”

A Prayer to Refocus on God When You’re Feeling Distracted | Your Daily Prayer

Between constant notifications, heavy schedules, and the noise of everyday life, it's easy to lose sight of God. Distractions don’t just pull our attention—they can quietly pull our hearts away from intimacy with Him. 📖 “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.” — Isaiah 26:3 📖 “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” — Colossians 3:2 This prayer helps quiet the chaos and recenters our minds on what matters most. When we feel spiritually scattered or disconnected, God gently invites us back—into focus, into stillness, into His presence.
